Volunteering
You don't have to have a career in a not-for-profit organisation to make a difference. There are thousands of volunteering opportunities happening all over the country that you could get involved in.
Volunteering means that you give your time without being paid. In return you get the satisfaction of knowing that your contribution is time and effort well spent. It's also a great way to meet new people with similar interests and learn new skills.
Many of the exhibitors at this year's forum3 exhibition will have volunteering positions available within their organisation. This is an ideal way to get a flavour of a company and also puts you in a strong position if a full-time role that suits you becomes available.
If you're interested in doing volunteer work, a great place to start is on the www.do-it.org.uk website. They run the only national database of volunteering opportunities in the UK. Whatever your skills, interests or availability, there is bound to be something local to suit you.
Trustee and board member opportunities
Many of the organisations at this year's forum3 exhibition will be looking to recruit trustees and board members. These positions are, essentially, voluntary roles and organisations in the NFP sector are looking to ensure that trustee boards are made up of a broad range of people with a variety of skills that more accurately reflect the organisation's users and customers.

You can find voluntary jobs, including Trustee jobs on forum3 Jobs, our companion job board.
“forum3 attracts the right kind of audience who have the potential to volunteer with VSO. With the seminar programmes we are able to provide people with a greater understanding of the work that we do and get people enthused about our projects overseas. The support we receive from the organisers before and after the show makes for an enjoyable and successful exhibition.”
